Your Assignment: Halong Bay

Floating through Halong Bay is sailing with Yogi Berra: the “deja vu all over again” impulses drift by port and starboard; they loom over you bow and stern; there are forks between this stone and that island, and you take it, as Yogi would advise.

So, your assignment for today is to study these photographs with some care and remember which of the islands pictured here have appeared in movies. For extra credit, describe the scene and what Mr. Bond, among others, was doing at the moment. For super extra credit, remind us of the name of the island in various scenes.

Prizes may or may not be awarded.

  1. I can picture the Bond scene but unable to place the film…..I give up. Several of your LA faculty attended my session today and wanted to say hello…..specifics next time we FaceTime

  2. Hi Peter, I am returning from a month of my sabbatical spent in Paris and Bucharest chasing after the work of one of my unknown to any but me artists. His work is always solo in museum basements or,when in Bucharest, in unlit Byzantine revival churches. I decided not to go back to Paris from the airport to sleep before early plane home, and it is turning out to be a long night. Hope this trip of yours has been a good one.You are really seeing the world, not just a painting at a time in the dark! All the best,
